The e-NC Authority was created in 2000 by the N.C. General Assembly, in an effort to measure statewide access to high-speed services, advocate for underserved communities and work to promote technology-based economic development.

Lacking broadband infrastructure in western N.C.

Betty Hurst of western North Carolina's HandMade in America (www.handmadeinamerica.org), explains how craftspeople must have access to high-speed Internet services in order to sustain their small businesses and resultant livelihood.
